My beauty routine!

I’ve always struggled with my skin since I was little. When I was in high school, I would wake up every morning to find a new, red and sore spot either on my chin or on my forehead. I honestly had no clue if they were caused by something that i was eating, the makeup I was using or if it was just a phase. It turned out that I was not cleansing my skin properly. One day I’ve decided to go to a dermatologist to understand what was going on with my skin. The first thing he told me when he visited me was that I had combination to oily skin. I didn’t even know what that was supposed to mean. Basically when you have this type of skin, you are dry in some areas of your face and oily in others, such as the T-zone (nose, forehead and chin). Combination skin can produce overly dilated pores, blackheads and shiny skin. One of the worst things you can do to your skin (even if you have normal or dry skin) is not to cleanse properly before going to bed. Do not ever go to bed with your make up still on your face.

Since then, I can finally say that I’ve found a few products that really suit my skin type and that I’ve been buying over and over again for months now. So today I would like to talk you through my beauty routine. Maybe this post can help you understand what type of skin you have and how to fight your skin problems.

The first thing I do before going to bed is take off my make up. I’ve been using for a while now the Clinians Micellar Water.  Thanks to the micelle action it gently removes impurities and trace of make-up from your face, eyes and lips just in one step. It makes my skin cleaner and it helps to maintain its natural moisture.

After removing all the make up from my face, I cleanse my skin with the Lush Aqua Marina. It absorbs excess oils and leave you with a clear complexion. The kaolin and calamine absorb oil and cleanse your skin. The aloe vera restores the moisture, the Irish Moss gel (a type of seaweed) is full of restorative minerals and vitamins, and there is also a sprinkling of sea salt for a gentle exfoliation.

The third step is to exfoliate. I’ve been loving the Dark Angels by Lush. I generally use this product 3 or 4 days a week becuase it is very strong. It’s made with black sugar and charcoal to exfoliate, and rhassoul mud to deeply cleanse. They also use cold pressed avocado oil and vegetable glycerine to moisturise and soften your skin after all that scrubbing, leaving your skin feeling balanced and fresh. Sandalwood and rosewood oils give a rich, earthy fragrance and have a cooling and antiseptic effect on the skin. It’s a great way to exfoliate and is deeply cleansing, whilst black sugar is in here to scrub away any dead skin cells, leaving you with bright, refreshed skin.

If I have some free time, I usually use a mask twice a week. Recently I bought the Kiko Remineralizing purifying mask. I really like this mask because it calms down my skin and it makes me feel refreshed and purified. I know that the color might seem a little scary, ( it is a very green colour) but once you’ve tried it you’ll never wanna live without it.

Last but not least, I like to use a toner. I’ve been loving the Lush Tea Tree Water. Its made of Tea tree (obviously) which is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial, so it can help keep away the bacteria that can cause spots. It also contains grapefruit which is rich in vitamins and is also lightly astringent on the skin, whilst juniperberry is antiseptic and helps keep skin clean and clear. Keep it in the fridge and use it after you’ve cleansed your skin. It will feel amazing.

As for the body, what is better than a massage? I’ve been using Lush Soft Coeur. For lovers of sweet smells, this massage bar featuring a familiar, comforting toffee fragrance. They added almond oil to the cocoa butter and shea butter massage bar base to allow the bar to melt quickly on the skin. The honey and cocoa centre will leave the skin smelling delicious. Smooth this sweet-smelling massage bar over your body and you’ll have a  deliciously-scented and soft skin.

I hope you guys will find some inspiration in this post. Comment down below if you try a few of the prodocts that I’ve mentioned. Have fun!

I have the same skin type, and it’s such a pain. Because you can’t really moisturize without making the oily part worse, but at the same time if you don’t you’ll end up with dry skin! But I agree that the lush products are amazing!

  2. nice explanation: a sweet process to be care about our skin.
